In the study some mice got a high fat diet , others a traditional diet. Each of these groups were then split in to smaller groups , given water, black tea or green tea for 14 weeks.
Black tea also counteracted the harmful effects on the blood normally associated with a high-fat diet.
The main problems are increase in cholesterol level, high blood glucose , insulin resistance - a precursor to type two diabetes where the body does not effectively use the insulin it produces. Obesity is the main cause of all these problems.
